An X3D chip, almost always. The extra 3D V-Cache buys more frames than raw clocks. The 7800X3D and older 5700X3D and 5800X3D give near flagship gaming for mid range money. Set the toggle to gaming value.
High core chips on sale. The Core Ultra 7 265K, Core i9 14900K and Ryzen 9 9950X give the most multi thread throughput per dollar. Set the toggle to productivity value.
For gaming yes. For rendering no, the cache does little there and cores matter more. If you do both, the 9950X3D and 9900X3D cover each at a premium.
AMD for gaming, efficiency and the long AM5 upgrade path. Intel for multi thread value when discounted. Filter by brand and sort by the metric that fits your work.
